Maïté Duval at the Museum voor Achterhoekse Schilderkunst
From 1 September, the Museum voor Achterhoekse Schilderkunst is showing small sculptures by Maïté Duval.
The museum in Vorden, in the province of Gelderland, holds a permanent collection of around two thousand works by artists from the Achterhoek region, from about 1890 to the present. Well known names include Herman Dijkjans, Albert Michaël Jörissen, Frederik Hartman, Arie Nijenhuis, Cor Sobel, Bertus Voortman, Anton Lefeber, Ami Bernard Zillweger, Krin Rinsema, Martien de Kler and Jan Bos.
Over the coming three months you can discover work by Marie Bilders-van Bosse (1837-1900) at the museum. This Dutch landscape painter, a pupil of Van de Sande Bakhuyzen and Johannes Bosboom, worked regularly in and around Vorden. Her work is rarely on view because much of it is in private collections. The museum managed to borrow ten paintings.
Alongside that, from 1 September to 1 December 2022, six studies by Maïté Duval can be admired in the museum's display case. Two women artists from the region, then. Maïté, who always resisted the male world that dominated art for so long, would have liked that. Among the studies on show are Paula in kamerjas and Else.
