The IJsberen (polar bears) are back
The IJsberen (polar bears) are back on the Callunaplein in Dieren. Maïté made this much loved group of sculptures in 1986, commissioned by the municipality. Children and shoppers adored the bronze animals, which were climbed on and photographed endlessly.
The sculptures were away for a while because of the thorough rebuilding of the shopping centre, which should be finished this month. The bears have now been put back and have been given a new plinth. Maïté's daughter Mathilde took these lovely photographs.
